If you are familiar with the UC Davis campus (and the quad in particular), then you may be familiar with the flagpole that stands outside the Memorial Union building. This flagpole normally flies three flags, the Stars and Stripes, the Californian flag, and the UC Davis flag, but that might soon change.
There is a plan being prepared which would effectively create a space for a 'fourth flag'. The fourth flag would be something that would be constantly changed to reflect other occasions of local, national, and international significance. From what I heard, this could be used to to symbolize various events ranging from our own UC Davis Picnic Day to World AIDS Day.
This makes me wonder whether a flag will be raised every September 19th to celebrate the most important event in the global calendar...International Talk Like a Pirate Day!!!
